How to Travel from Ecuador to Morocco: Requirements and Recommendations
Since 2025 Ecuadorians enter without a visa, but with a prior electronic authorization. We explain how it works and how to organize the trip.
Ecuador has a particularity among the countries of the region: since August 1, 2025, Ecuadorians with an ordinary passport can enter Morocco without a visa, but they must first obtain an electronic travel authorization (AEVM). It is an online procedure that is best done calmly.
What you need to enter Morocco as an Ecuadorian
According to the official information published by Ecuador's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the visa exemption allows stays of up to 90 days per entry. To travel you need:
- A valid ordinary passport, with at least six months of recommended validity and blank pages.
- Electronic Travel Authorization to Morocco (AEVM), which is requested only on the official portal of the Moroccan Government, acces-maroc.ma. The sources consulted describe it as valid for around six months and for a single entry; confirm the current conditions and its cost on the portal.
- A ticket out or onward travel and the details of your accommodation for the first nights.
- Travel insurance with medical assistance (not mandatory, but highly recommended).
The layover in Europe: what you should check
Most routes from Ecuador go through Spain or another European city. Ecuadorians need a visa to enter the Schengen area, so before buying you must check whether your layover is made in the transit zone without passing through immigration control or whether you need an airport transit visa depending on the airport and the airline. If the ticket is bought in separate legs, you will have to leave and re-enter, which would require the Schengen visa. Always check with the airline and the consulate.
