Do Mexicans Need a Visa to Travel to Morocco?
The short answer is no. The long one includes a passport, a ticket out, the entry card and a few details worth knowing before you fly.
No, Mexicans do not need a visa to travel to Morocco as tourists, as long as the stay does not exceed 90 days and you travel with an ordinary Mexican passport. It is one of the easiest North African countries to visit for holders of this passport.
What you are asked for to enter
You do not need to arrange anything at a consulate. What the airline and border control do check is the following:
- Valid Mexican passport. Although the basic rule is that it covers the stay, the practical recommendation —and what many airlines apply— is that it has at least six months of validity on entry, with blank pages for the stamps.
- Ticket out of Morocco or onward travel to another country.
- Address of your accommodation for the first nights (hotel, riad or the home of a relative or friend).
- Sufficient funds for your stay, in case the immigration officer asks.
- Entry card (or police card): a short form that is usually handed out on the plane or filled in at the border, with your details and the address where you will stay.
What the process is like on arrival
- Get off the plane and follow the signs to passport control (border police).
- Hand over your passport and the completed entry card. You may be asked a few short questions: purpose of the trip, length of stay and accommodation.
- The officer stamps your passport with the entry date. That stamp marks the start of your 90 days.
- Collect your luggage and go through customs.
Answer clearly and keep your reservations at hand, printed or on your phone. On a standard tourist trip, the process is quick.
What about the layover in Europe?
Since there is no direct flight from Mexico to Morocco, you will normally have a layover in Madrid, Paris or Istanbul. Mexicans do not need a Schengen visa for short stays. However, the European Union plans to launch the ETIAS system (an electronic authorization for travelers who do not need a visa), whose start was expected in the last quarter of 2026. Check the EU's official website to see whether it is already mandatory and whether it applies to your type of layover before buying the ticket.
Special cases
- If you live outside Mexico: what counts is the nationality of your passport, not your country of residence. A Mexican living in the US or Spain still follows the rules that apply to Mexico.
- Dual nationality: always enter and leave with the same passport to avoid confusion with the stamps.
- Minors: each minor needs their own passport. If they travel without one of their parents, find out about the authorization documents the airline or immigration authorities may ask for.
- Stays of more than 90 days, studies or work: they require specific procedures with the Moroccan Embassy or local authorities; they are not covered by the tourist exemption.
Common mistakes that can ruin the trip
- Traveling with a passport with less than six months of validity or without blank pages.
- Not carrying a ticket out (some airlines will not let you board without one).
- A ticket name that does not match the passport.
- Forgetting the accommodation address for the entry card.

Questions about the visa and entry to Morocco
Up to 90 days for tourism. For longer stays, specific procedures are required.
Not for a tourist trip. The accommodation details and the usual travel documents are enough.
In general no mandatory vaccinations are required for travelers coming from Mexico, but it is advisable to consult a travel doctor and check the current health recommendations.
Better to renew it first. Although the entry rule may be more flexible, many airlines require six months of validity and could deny you boarding.
