6-Day Tour from Agadir: Essaouira, Marrakech and Desert

Agadir → Taghazout → Essaouira

Drive up the Atlantic coast past surf beaches such as Taghazout and Imsouane and through argan forests, stopping at a women’s cooperative. Arrive in Essaouira in the afternoon for a sunset walk through the medina and along the Skala ramparts.

Morning at the Essaouira fishing harbour, then drive inland to Marrakech. In the afternoon, a guided visit of the Majorelle Garden, the Bahia Palace and the souks, and sunset on Jemaa el-Fna square.

Marrakech → Tizi n’Tichka → Aït Ben Haddou → Dades Valley

Morning departure into the High Atlas and over the Tizi n’Tichka pass (2,260 m), with stops in Berber villages. Visit the kasbah of Aït Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and continue via Ouarzazate and the Valley of Roses to the Dades Valley.

Dades Valley → Todra Gorge → Merzouga

Walk between the rock walls of the Todra Gorge, up to 300 metres high, and drive via Tinghir and the palm groves of Erfoud. At sunset, a camel ride across the dunes of Erg Chebbi and a night at a desert camp, with dinner and music around the fire.

Merzouga → Rissani → Alnif → Draa Valley → Ouarzazate

Visit the souk of Rissani and drive the southern road, between the black plateaus of Jbel Saghro, to Alnif and its fossils. Continue via N’Kob, the village of 45 kasbahs, and the palm groves of the Draa Valley to Ouarzazate.

Ouarzazate → Taznakht → Taliouine → Taroudant → Agadir

Drive through the Anti-Atlas, stopping in Taznakht, famous for its carpets, and in Taliouine to learn about saffron growing. Walk along the ramparts of Taroudant and arrive in Agadir, where the trip ends at your hotel or the airport.
