Itinerary

Day-by-day itinerary

Day1

Tangier → Chefchaouen → Fes

Early departure to Chefchaouen for a walk through its blue medina and lunch. In the afternoon, continue to Fes across the Pre-Rif hills.

Accommodation: Fes

Day2

Fes → Ifrane → Midelt → Merzouga

Cross the Middle Atlas via Ifrane and its cedar forests, with stops in Midelt and the palm groves of the Ziz Valley. At sunset, a camel ride across the dunes of Erg Chebbi and a night at a desert camp.

Accommodation: Desert camp in Merzouga

Day3

Merzouga → Todra Gorge → Ouarzazate → Marrakech

Sunrise over the dunes and a camel ride back. Drive via Rissani and the Todra Gorge to Ouarzazate, then cross the High Atlas over the Tizi n’Tichka pass to Marrakech, where the trip ends.

The driving days are long, especially the second and third, but very rewarding. If you have more time, we recommend the 5- or 7-day tour, with shorter stages.

Yes. We pick you up at Tanger Med or Tanger Ville port, at Ibn Battouta Airport or at your hotel, depending on how you arrive.

Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). In summer the desert is very hot, and in winter nights are cold in the Atlas and the Sahara.
