Itinerary

Day-by-day itinerary

Day1

Arrival in Casablanca and Transfer to Marrakech

Today we begin our Morocco tours by exploring Casablanca's main landmarks, such as the impressive Hassan II Mosque. We then head for Marrakech. On arrival you have free time to start discovering the city on your own. We spend the night in a local riad or hotel.

Accommodation: Night in Marrakech — Riad Silsila or similar

Day2

Discovering Marrakech

We give the day over to exploring the treasures of Marrakech with an expert local guide. We walk the UNESCO-listed Medina, visit the lush Majorelle Gardens, admire the architectural refinement of the Bahia Palace and take in the constant spectacle of Jemaa el-Fnaa square, where snake charmers, storytellers and food stalls create an atmosphere all of their own.

Accommodation: Night in Marrakech — Riad Silsila or similar

Day3

From Marrakech to the Dades Valley

Today we head into the spectacular Atlas. We cross the Tizi n’Tichka pass, with landscapes shifting from green valleys to arid mountains. We visit the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a location for films such as Gladiator, and stop in Ouarzazate, known as Morocco’s film capital. The day closes as we reach the majestic Dades Valley at sunset.

Accommodation: Night in Dades — Riad Gabsi or similar

Day4

Dades Valley to Merzouga

After breakfast we make for the striking Todra Gorges, where we can walk between canyon walls 300 metres high. In the afternoon we reach the gates of the Sahara at Merzouga. Here we mount camels for an unforgettable crossing to our Berber camp, watching the sun set over the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi.

Accommodation: Night in Merzouga — Tawada Camp or similar

Day5

Desert exploration

A full day to immerse ourselves in the magic of the desert. We rise early to witness a spectacular sunrise from the highest dunes. We visit nomad families to learn about their traditional way of life and, if the season allows, a seasonal lake that attracts migratory birds. In the afternoon we enjoy optional activities such as sandboarding or 4×4 rides across the sea of dunes.

Accommodation: Night in Merzouga — Dar Hassan or similar

Day6

From Merzouga to Fes

We leave the desert heading north, crossing the palm groves of the Ziz Valley, an enormous oasis set against the dryness of the Sahara. We stop in Ifrane, nicknamed “the Moroccan Switzerland” for its alpine architecture, and visit the Azrou cedar forest to spot Barbary macaques. We reach Fes, the cultural capital, in the late afternoon.

Accommodation: Night in Día — Plais Houyam or similar

Day7

Fes city tour

A day given over to exploring the imperial city of Fes with a local guide. We walk Fes el-Bali, a living medieval labyrinth, visiting the traditional tanneries, the madrasas decorated with Andalusian art and souks full of craftwork. Every corner breathes history and authenticity — a complete immersion in Moroccan culture.

Accommodation: Night in Día — Plais Houyam or similar

Day8

From Fes to Chefchaouen

North with cultural stops along the way. We visit Meknes, another imperial city, to admire the monumental Bab Mansour gate. We explore the Roman ruins of Volubilis, with their well-preserved mosaics. Finally we reach Chefchaouen, the captivating “blue city” perched in the Rif Mountains, where time seems to have stopped.

Accommodation: Night in Chefchaouen — Dare Chchaouen or similar

Day9

Chefchaouen and on to Tangier

A free morning to explore Chefchaouen at your own pace. Lose yourself in its blue alleys, photograph its charming corners and buy local craftwork. In the afternoon we head for Tangier, the cosmopolitan city on the Strait of Gibraltar where Africa meets Europe.

Accommodation: Night in Tangier — Hôtel Rembrandt or similar

Day10

From Tangier to Rabat

We first visit Asilah, a charming coastal town famous for its white walls and street-art festival. We then continue to Rabat, Morocco’s administrative capital, where we visit the Oudayas Kasbah, the Hassan Tower and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V — notable examples of Moroccan royal architecture.

Accommodation: Night in Rabat — Riad Zyo or similar

Day11

From Rabat to Essaouira

We stop in Casablanca to admire the imposing Hassan II Mosque from outside, set dramatically over the ocean. We then head to Essaouira, a charming walled coastal city and World Heritage Site, known for its relaxed feel, its blue-and-white medina and its lively arts scene.

Accommodation: Night in Essaouira — Maison Du Sud or similar

Day12

From Essaouira to Marrakech

We return to Marrakech along the coast road, stopping to enjoy the ocean views. You have the afternoon free in Marrakech for last purchases in the souks, to see anything you have missed, or simply to say goodbye to the red city over a mint tea on a terrace above Jemaa el-Fnaa.

Accommodation: Night in Marrakech — Riad Silsila or similar

Day13

About this tour

Not every night: in several cities we stay two nights in a row (Marrakech, Fez), although as a touring itinerary the hotel does change often. You always travel in a private vehicle, without carrying the luggage yourself.

Yes, many riads and hotels offer laundry for a small charge, and in cities such as Fez or Marrakech it is easy to find. We tell you where at each stop.

Several: the Fez medina, Ait Ben Haddou, Volubilis, the Marrakech medina and Essaouira, among other emblematic places in the country.

It is balanced: scenic driving days alternate with full sightseeing days in the main cities, so it is not all hours in the car.

There are ATMs in all the large cities (Casablanca, Rabat, Fez, Marrakech). It is wise to carry some cash in dirhams for villages and the desert, where ATMs are not always available.

Yes. Although the itinerary ends in Marrakech, we can adjust the ending or the transfer so you depart from Casablanca; tell us your flight when booking.

The Perfect Family Trip to Morocco

We recently returned from an incredible 12-day tour from Casablanca with our two children, and booking with Agencia Marruecos Tours was the best decision we made. Our driver and guide, Hassan, didn't just drive us from place to place — he became part of our family's story. The overnight desert camp in Merzouga was pure magic for all of us.

An amazing experience

I finally fulfilled a lifelong ambition of mine to go to Morocco. It was without a doubt one of the most memorable experiences of my life! The nine days spent travelling were filled with such breathtaking scenery. My favourite part was spending the night in a tent in the Sahara Desert and riding camels around the desert.

Highly recommended

An excellent personalised experience, helped along by Idir’s passion for his country and its customs — and, despite his youth, his knowledge of every corner of Morocco.
