Day-by-day itinerary
Day1
Errachidia → Ziz Valley → Erfoud → Merzouga
Pick-up at Errachidia airport, the bus station or your hotel. Drive south past the viewpoints of the Ziz Valley, a palm-filled canyon more than a hundred kilometres long, and stop in Erfoud, the town of fossils. At sunset, a camel ride across the dunes of Erg Chebbi and a night at a desert camp.

Merzouga – Rissani – Todra Gorge – Dades Valley
Visit the market of Rissani, birthplace of the Alaouite dynasty. Continue to the Todra Gorge, with rock walls up to 300 metres high, and arrive in the Dades Valley.

Day3
Dades Valley → Valley of Roses → Skoura → Ouarzazate
Drive through the Valley of Roses, known for its rose water, and the Skoura palm grove with the Amridil Kasbah. Arrive in Ouarzazate, the gateway to the desert.

Day4
Ouarzazate → Aït Ben Haddou → Marrakech
Visit the kasbah of Aït Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, early in the morning while it is still quiet. Cross the High Atlas over the Tizi n’Tichka pass, with a stop at an argan cooperative, and arrive in Marrakech in mid-afternoon, where the trip ends.

It is the closest airport to Merzouga, about two and a half hours from the dunes. Flying into Errachidia saves you the long drive from Marrakech or Fes.
